USA – Investigation Continues After Port Arthur Valero Refinery Fire Contained

A fire at Valero’s refinery in Port Arthur has been fully contained, and officials have confirmed that no personnel were injured during the incident.

The refinery, which employs about 770 workers and processes roughly 435,000 barrels of heavy sour crude oil each day, experienced the blaze earlier this week. Valero has stated that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

During the incident, local authorities issued a temporary shelter-in-place order and closed nearby roads as a precaution while air quality was assessed. Testing conducted by Valero, the Port Arthur Fire Department, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) later confirmed that the surrounding community was not at risk.

With those findings, both the shelter-in-place advisory and road closures were lifted. Valero expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support from local agencies in managing the situation.

Officials continue working to determine what sparked the fire.
