SOUTH KOREA – Incheon Coupang Logistics Center Fire Extinguished After Days of Efforts

Fire authorities have successfully extinguished the major fire that broke out at Coupang’s logistics center in Incheon, bringing an end to a firefighting operation that lasted approximately 109 hours.

According to the Incheon Fire Department, the fire at Coupang’s 32 Logistics Center in Seoknam-dong, Seohae-gu, was fully extinguished at around 8:35 p.m. on the 22nd. The blaze had continued for about 109 hours and 40 minutes since it was first reported on the morning of the 18th.

The fire began at approximately 6:54 a.m. on the sixth floor of the eight-story logistics facility, which covers a total area of about 299,000 square meters. The flames spread rapidly to higher floors, making firefighting operations particularly difficult.

Fire crews faced challenges due to the large volume of flammable goods stored inside the building, along with its complex structure, which made it difficult to access and suppress the fire. After extensive efforts, authorities managed to bring the main blaze under control at around 8 p.m. on the 20th, approximately 61 hours after the fire began.

Following the initial containment, firefighters continued monitoring the site and working to eliminate remaining embers to prevent the possibility of the flames reigniting.

With the fire now fully extinguished, the Incheon Fire Department has lifted the Level 1 fire response issued during the emergency.
