Death Toll from Shahid Rajaee Port Explosion in Iran Climbs to 58
The death toll from the recent explosion at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Port has increased to 58, according to Mojtaba Ghahremani, head of the Hormozgan Justice Department. Authorities have identified 51 of the deceased so far, while seven people are still officially missing.
Addressing circulating rumors about the number of missing persons, Ghahremani emphasized that only seven families have filed reports with judicial and police authorities. “Any other figures are not accurate,” he clarified.
Ghahremani also mentioned that a meeting with the families of the victims and the missing is scheduled for later Monday to collect statements and address their concerns. The judiciary, he added, is actively working to ensure compensation is delivered swiftly to the families affected by the incident.
Additionally, approximately 400 individuals injured in the explosion have been examined at the Hormozgan Forensic Medical Department, and legal cases are being opened to expedite their claims for compensation.
“We are committed to upholding the rights of those impacted by this tragedy without delay,” Ghahremani stated.
The blast occurred last week at Shahid Rajaee Port, a major commercial hub near the city of Bandar Abbas. While the exact cause remains under investigation, preliminary findings point to a possible industrial accident.
