Explosion at Navoiazot Plant Leaves One Dead, 11 Injured

An explosion at the Navoiazot plant, a major producer of chemical products and fertilizers in Navoi, central Uzbekistan, resulted in one fatality and left 11 others injured.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the incident occurred at 14:10 when a gas-air mixture ignited inside one of the laboratories, sparking a fire.

Ten firefighting and rescue teams were dispatched to the site to contain the blaze. Authorities from the regional emergency department, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, medical teams, and the prosecutor’s office also responded to the scene.

The fire was brought under control by 14:20 and completely extinguished by 14:50. Officials have launched a preliminary investigation to determine the cause of the explosion, the ministry reported.
