Four people injured after chemical plant blast in Philippines
A chemical plant explosion injured four people in Quezon City, Philippines on 19 October. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blast happened at a facility operated by ABAM Steel Fabrication in the Novaliches area of the city.
The explosion caused a fire to break out in the production area of the plant. The fire department was called to the scene at around 14:00 local time after locals reported a loud bang and smoke. The fire was quickly extinguished and paramedics were allowed on site to treat the injured.
Authorities have said the cause of the explosion remains unknown and that an investigation is underway. The BFP told local news that the owner of the company, as well as several relatives, were injured during the incident. One of the injured suffered a broken leg while another suffered second degree-burns.
All four of the injures were rushed to hospital where two were later released after receiving treatment.
