Niles Fire Dept Respond or Watch

Initial Email Enquiry –

Pine makes some interesting points below which you may wish to comment on. I know that it is a very contentious issue, here on our Teesside facilities we have attended car fires, and fatal RTA's outside of our contractual operating area where we have been able to respond quicker than the local authority fire services and were we had cause to believe life safety and our site boundary was being compromised. However, we do so at our risk. if something goes wrong we are at risk of litigation. Your views?

I would like to hear response from our fellow-members on this attitude of the Niles Fire Chief. My opinion is that if the Niles Fire Department knew their area, they should have informed the dispatcher that it falls outside of their area but seeing that they did respond, they should have acted and after the incident instituted corrective actions. This is a bad reflection on the Niles Fire Dept and the profession as a whole.
