Planning Madness

Initial Email Enquiry –

This is a long shot, I am in dispute with our Building & Planning and Public Works Departments. Some bright spark has decided that it would be a good idea to build a car park next to the fire station. All fine and well you may think!! Until they decided that the Entry & Exit would also be through the Fire Station yard.

I am pulling out every stop this end to prevent it, I was wondering if any member new of any legislation in the UK that I might be able to use to prevent this farce.

We dry and work as close as possible to UK rules.

1st Response –

Your a little behind the 8 ball. Don't know of any legislation which prevents traffic from the front of a fire station.

I have copied a section from a document which may give some relief - The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 which if you look on page 110 gives some guidance which would allow for control of vehicles in and out of your station. The use of 'yellow hatching will ensure no vehicle is allowed to STOP on the hatching allows for you to ensure a free egress. The lights installed outside the station would ensure safe control of traffic.

If anyone knows of anything else which could help Gardner then please feel free to cascade your views to him direct.
