Incident Report

Subject: Buncefield Fire - 3M Pull out of Foam Business
Date of Email: Thu 11/05/2006 09:35

Report Detail:

the 3rd interim report from the UK HSE team that came out yesterday concludes in section four that there appear to be no longer term  negative noticeable effect on either ground soil or water from the foam/oil pollution and PFOS levels are below the levels advised by the Drinking Water Directive as hazardous to human health  and no adverse levels of PFOS or other foam products in boreholes or rivers.
The full front page scare story in the Independent Newspaper on Friday May 5th "Poisonous legacy of a forgotten Disaster"   - Ministers set to ban PFOS a lethal chemical - was exactly that, a scare story with no substance.
