Initial Email Enquiry –

Reference: Position Paper on Foam Fire Extinguishers circulated on 4th October 2005.

The Executive are pleased to note the exchanges on their Position Paper on Foam extinguishers. However based on some of the exchanges, there appears to have been some misunderstandings on the intent of the Paper and the Executive consider that it would be valuable to issue a Clarification which is available below.

You might like to be aware that FETA (Fire Extinguishing Trades Association) is drafting guidance to cover the environmental aspects of portable fire extinguishers which will include discharge testing. I think that we should all strive to achieve position papers that reflect best practice. If JOIFF and FETA would like to discuss their respective positions I am happy to put the Secretariat in touch with an appropriate contact within FETA.
