Subject:                        SCBA Cylinder Identification

Date of Email :   27/08/2007

Initial Email:

I would like to know what the other industries use to identify their SCBA cylinders. Except for the standard serial number and pressure test dates punched on the neck of the cylinders what else do you use.

I have seen stickers, dog tags, brass washers etc.

Second Email: (dated 27/08/2007)

At Engen Refinery we have all cylinders stencilled with the company name and “in-house” identification number which ties up with its maintenance sheet, service record. Pressure test certificate and filling record.

Third Email: (dated 28/08/2007)

Neck punch stamps went out with the steel cylinder,  I believe  they are not allowed on any other cylinder material aluminum ,composite etc., We use the serial number and an inplant  numbered label , It is tracted in the "Crossfire database"
