Transformer Fire in Kashiwazaki- Kariwa Nuclear Power Station, Japan.  The Niigata-Chuetu-Oki Earthquake occurred in Niigata Prefecture, Japan at 10.13am (local time) on 16th July 2007. House transformer 3B was found in fire at 10.15am on 16th July. Fire was extinguished at 12.10pm on the same day. For the rolling of 680 gals by the earthquake, transformer oil would be leaked from the bushing part, and it seemed to be the cause of fire. This house transformer is ranked C as the quakeproof design standard of nuclear power plant (rank C is the same safety level of general industrial facilities).  It means that the standard of quakeproof design of rolling maximum is estimated 500gal.

Japanese nuclear safety commission revealed that they were planning to amend the quakeproof design standard of nuclear power plant.
