Azerbaijan - Fire Hits Baku Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery Storage Tank

A fire blazed up in the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Baku was extinguished, SOCAR sources told APA. The company said the fire blazed up in fuel tank 140 in the refinery’s tank park at about 11.30 on Monday. Firefighters of the Ministry of Emergency situations immediately arrived at site and started to extinguish the fire. “A crisis center was established immediately and as a result of emergency measures, the fire was extinguished at about 12.50 and no casualties were reported”. SOCAR said the emergency forces were continuing cooling of oil tanks and preventive measures.  The fire blazed up in one of the fuel tanks in the oil refinery’s territory at about 11.30 on Monday. Alarm 4 was raised. More than 20 firefighting vehicles were sent to the site. The territory was cordoned and people were evacuated from nearby areas due to explosion risk.
