ABB Engineering Services have produced a series of technical bulletins to share good practice and learning within the process industries.

The main philosophy is to provide technical information and guidance that practising engineers and managers would find useful. Ideally we would like to share learning and experiences, ours and yours, from around the world, in a way that will not draw attention to a specific company, so getting away from the various litigation issues and other sensitivities. By acting through this independent channel we can all share our learning responsibly and anonymously!.

The preservation of structural steelwork is vital in order to maintain a buildings integrity and prevent buckling or in a worse case collapse!  Main columns and supporting beams can often be hidden behind brickwork, cladding or fire protection, where corrosion can happily progress without knowledge, a scenario very much of 'out of site, out of mind!'.  This Specialist  provides guidance and addresses this issue with some sound solutions.
