Fire-fighters have brought a large blaze at a chemical plant on Teesside under control. The fire broke out at the Terra Ammonia 4 plant in Billingham at about 1800 BST The fire occurred on the Synthesis Gas Compressor and at its height it was tackled by 50 fire-fighters. Cleveland Police said it was brought under control quickly and its officers were not asked to attend. The police spokesman said there were no reports of injuries and that the fire smoke was not thought to be toxic. He said: "Crews are already being stood down and the fire is under control. "We do not know at this stage what caused the fire but there are no reports of injuries."
