Subject:                     Two Alarm Fire at Valero Refinery

Report Detail:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A two-alarm fire at the Valero plant has been knocked down, with no injuries reported.  According to a worker on the scene, there was a power outage around 3:00am. After the power came back online around 6:00am, a large crude unit heater exploded at around 7:15am. Plumes of smoke could be seen from miles away, and tremors from the explosion could be felt as far away as Memphis International Airport.  The fire was brought under control by 8:15am. A worker told FOX13 that the plant has very strict safety procedures, and the approximate 300 workers there at the time were all evacuated safely.  There was extensive damage to the facility, but all workers were accounted for and nobody was hurt.
