As from 1 June 2015, stricter requirements will apply to companies classified ‘SEVESO’ in order to prevent and control accidents involving dangerous chemical products. On 28 March, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the member states backed the agreement reached by the Council and the European Parliament within the framework of the inter-institutional three-way talks on a planned review of the EU directive on the prevention and control of major industrial accidents involving dangerous substances (called SEVESO II (1)).
