A fire occurred on in the early hours of Friday morning at the Mozdok-Kazimagomed main gas pipeline in the Kizilyurt region of Dagestan, a law enforcement source told RIA Novosti.

"The fire occurred along the 676 kilometer of gas pipeline in the area of ​​the pipe with a diameter of 1200 mm after 1 a.m. The fire brigade is still working on the scene at the moment," the source said. He said the firemen have almost completed their work, but the gas supply remains shutdown.

"Experts will examine the damaged pipe as soon as firemen finish their work to examine the reason of the accident. Then the restoration work will begin." he added.

A number of customers are running on a temporary gas supply at the moment.
