Subject:         NIGERIA - TANKER FIRE KILLS 2 PUPILS, 3 OTHERS IN OGUN

Five persons including two pupils and tanker drivers burnt to death along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, Ogun state, in an accident involving two tankers yesterday. Six other people sustained varied degrees of injuries and are now receiving treatment in hospitals. Eyewitnesses say the fatal accident occurred when the pupils were on their way to school. One of the victims, a student of a public school in Osun State, was waiting for a bus by the roadside when a tanker trying to overtake the other on a sloppy section of the road, lost control, fell and spilled its content. The Premium Motor Spirit, which one of the trucks was converting, spilled and a spark led to an inferno which burnt the victims to death. The raging fire caught a school bus belonging to a private school and one of the pupils in the vehicle was said to have burnt to death. The fire also razed some kiosks, mechanic workshops and other structures by the roadside.
