Subject:         JOIFF Peer Request - Evacuating vs Shelter-in Place

Date of Email report:  Fri 14/11/2014

Report Detail:

Dear JOIFF members here is an opportunity to share best practice, local procedures and standards employed regionally.  This JOIFF member requests information relating to ‘shelter in place’ (SIP) - what standards do you employ, what integrity levels are necessary for places of relative safety during an external toxic gas release?  Do you think there is alternative options based on his brief description of scenario for SIP?As usual please mail copy to myself at [email protected]

Dear Kevin

As a consequence of lessons learned from two incidents related to our neighbours we want to implement shelter in pace instead of evacuation for the first emergency stage in case of gas release. We are searching for information related to shelter-in place, safe haven buildings, etc. in order to improve our Emergency Plan, can the JOIFF members provide us information about standards, requirements, best practices, guidelines,… that can help us to develop this issue?

Thank you and best regards
