Date of Email report:  Mon 02/06/2014 07:48

Report Detail:

NB: This is the second Boilover to occur in the last three months with one happening at the YPF facility in Argentina in March

On May 21st a tank containing 5000 tons of crude oil caught fire and then boiled over in Komi republic. The storage facility belongs to Lukoil-Usinskneftegaz Company.  22 firemen fought the fire for two days. The incident happened 35 km from Usinsk.   A boilover took place and spread to three other oil facilities containing crude oil.

One fireman was injured.

A fire at Lukoil's Usinsk oil processing station halted delivery via the Kharyaga-Usa pipeline on Thursday, threatening Urals crude exports from the Baltic port of Primorsk.  The explosion and fire occurred on Wednesday, and three similar nearby storage facilities were also affected.   The Usinsk oil processing station provides around 20,000 tonnes of oil a day to Transneft's system, about three-quarters of which comes from Lukoil, according to Transneft.
