Oil and Gas Leak Contained at OIL’s Duliajan Field

A crude oil and natural gas leak was detected at the Nagajan oilfield in Duliajan, Assam, India, on Sunday, sparking concern among local residents. The sudden discharge of oil and gas created an uneasy situation in the vicinity.

According to reports, the leak occurred at Well No. 309 of Oil India Limited’s (OIL) Nagajan field. In response, OIL’s emergency response team, including firefighting personnel, promptly arrived at the site to contain the situation.

Senior Oil India officials, along with technical experts, conducted an on-site assessment following the incident. To ensure safety, security personnel and firefighting teams were deployed as precautionary measures.

An OIL representative explained, “A strong surge of sand from underground caused significant damage to the well’s flow line, resulting in the leak. As soon as the issue was detected, fire service teams were alerted. Two fire tenders were dispatched to the location, and after continuous efforts, the gas leak was successfully controlled within 45 minutes.”
