ROMANIA – Worker Injured in Explosion at Lukoil Refinery in Ploiești

A 57-year-old man was injured following an explosion on October 20 at the Petrotel Lukoil oil refinery in Ploiești, Romania. The man suffered head, facial, and leg injuries but was conscious when emergency crews arrived. He received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to the Ploiești Emergency Hospital, authorities said.

According to the Prahova County Emergency Inspectorate, the blast occurred in a facility located on Mihai Bravu Street. The explosion did not lead to a fire, officials confirmed.

Petrotel Lukoil, which specializes in oil refining and distribution, was undergoing major maintenance work at the time of the incident—a process that had started several days earlier. The cause of the explosion has not yet been disclosed.
