Shell Confirms Extinguishing of Fire Near Gbaran Gas Facility in Nigeria

Shell has announced that a fire which erupted near its Gbaran Ubie gas facility in Nigeria’s Bayelsa state on Tuesday the 14th has been successfully extinguished.

“We are pleased to report that the fire outside our Gbaran Central Processing Facility… was put out last night. A regulator-led Joint Investigation Visit is being organized to ascertain the cause and impact,” a Shell spokesperson explained last Thursday.

The Gbaran facility, operational since 2010, is a crucial feedstock project for Nigeria LNG, processing nearly 2 billion standard cubic feet of gas each day.
