USA – Four Turner Industries Employees Hurt in Citgo Refinery Fire
A fire at the Citgo Lake Charles Refinery in Sulphur left four Turner Industries contractors injured Monday afternoon, according to Louisiana State Police.
The blaze was reported around 12:40 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 108. State Police Sgt. Ross Brennan said the workers sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. HazMat units responded, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Citgo officials described the incident as a “small flash fire” that occurred at approximately 12:46 p.m. while contract personnel were performing work at the facility. All four employees were taken offsite for treatment. According to the company, one has since been released while the others remain under medical care.
“Employee and contractor safety is our highest priority,” Citgo said in a statement. “Refinery operations remain normal and were not interrupted.”
Jessica Saxby, the refinery’s communications advisor, reiterated that operations were unaffected and emphasized that safety remains Citgo’s top concern.
