USA – West Tulsa Refinery Fire Contained After Emergency Response
A fire broke out Monday morning at the HF Sinclair refinery in West Tulsa, sending thick black smoke and visible flames into the air before the situation was brought under control.
Company officials said the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. at the Tulsa facility. In a statement, HF Sinclair said emergency response measures were activated immediately, allowing crews to extinguish the blaze. The company also confirmed that all workers were accounted for and that one employee was taken off-site for medical treatment.
Officials stated that air monitoring was conducted around the refinery’s perimeter, with no signs of effects beyond the facility reported at this time. An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to follow.
The Tulsa Fire Department said its crews arrived around 11 a.m. to provide standby assistance if necessary. Firefighters from both Tulsa and Berryhill remained available during the incident, though the refinery’s in-house fire brigade ultimately managed the emergency, allowing local crews to return to service.
Before the fire was contained, large flames and heavy smoke could be seen rising from the refinery. A scorched vehicle was spotted near an industrial tank, while suppression systems appeared to be active at the scene.
Authorities say the situation remains under review, and more information is expected as it becomes available.
