PARAGUAY – Hydrogen Tank Blast in Paraguay Sends Three Workers to Hospital

A hydrogen tank explosion at Cahpsa industrial plant in Paraguay has left three workers injured and receiving treatment at the Social Security Institute. Two suffered severe burns, while a third was hurt when part of the roof collapsed; one of the employees remains in critical condition.

Authorities and plant staff are still trying to determine what triggered the blast. According to worker Joaquín García, surveys and assessments are underway as part of the ongoing investigation. In the meantime, the entire facility has been shut down and all operations suspended.

Local residents had reportedly raised concerns long before the incident, warning that the plant’s presence in a residential area posed potential risks.

The accident adds to a string of hydrogen-related incidents reported this year. In October, a deadly explosion at SK Energy’s Ulsan refinery in South Korea killed two workers and led to a comprehensive safety review at the company.
