RUSSIA – Technical Malfunction Reportedly Sparks Fire at Tyumen Oil Refinery
A fire broke out at the Tyumen Oil Refinery on Saturday morning after what authorities described as a disruption in the facility’s technological process.
According to the regional government’s information center, the blaze originated in one of the refinery’s purification system units. Officials said that the fire resulted from an operational issue within the refinery.
The fire spread across approximately 100 square meters and was classified as a high-risk incident by local authorities. Videos shared on social media showed large flames and thick black smoke rising from the facility, drawing significant public attention.
The refinery, located near Tyumen and commonly known as the Antipinsky Oil Refinery, is one of Russia’s major privately owned refining facilities. The plant plays an important role in processing crude oil and supplying petroleum products to domestic markets.
Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene and successfully contained the fire, according to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. Authorities confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Officials have not released detailed information regarding the extent of the damage, though initial reports indicated that the fire was limited to the affected processing unit. An investigation is expected to determine the precise circumstances that led to the incident.
