INDIA – 12 Dead, 34 Injured in Reactor Explosion at Telangana Factory

Pashamylaram, Telangana:
A massive explosion in a reactor at Sigachi Industries Pvt Ltd in Pashamylaram claimed at least 12 lives and left 34 people injured on Monday morning, June 30.

What Happened:
According to reports, the blast occurred between 9:28 and 9:35 a.m., catching many workers by surprise. Around 150 employees were on-site at the time, with nearly 90 people working near the reactor when the explosion took place.

Casualties and Rescue Efforts:
Inspector General of Police V Satyanarayana had confirmed earlier that six bodies were recovered from the site and two more victims died while receiving treatment. Of the 26 injured, two to three remain in critical condition. The numbers have now gone up to 12 dead and 34 injured.

Emergency services, including ten fire engines, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), were deployed immediately to contain the fire and rescue trapped workers. Efforts were complicated as the facility’s record keeper — who maintained worker attendance — is believed to be among the deceased, making it difficult to determine the exact number of people still unaccounted for.

Leaders Respond:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and announced compensation for the victims’ families through social media platform X. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to ensure the injured receive advanced medical treatment and that rescue operations continue without delay.
