INDIA – Four Killed, Three Injured in Blaze at Delhi Chemical Factory

A massive fire broke out at a chemical factory in Delhi’s Rithala area on Tuesday evening, leaving four people dead and at least three others injured, according to police reports on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

The blaze started in a five-storey building near the Rithala Metro Station in Rohini Sector-5. Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg said that 16 fire tenders were rushed to the scene to tackle the flames.

Emergency services were alerted after a PCR call was received at Budh Vihar Police Station at 7:29 pm on Tuesday. Police officers and fire personnel arrived quickly at the Rana Complex, Gate No. 2, where several people were trapped inside the burning building.

Initial rescue efforts saved three people: Nitin Bansal (31) and Rakesh (30), both with 80% burn injuries, and Virender (25), who suffered minor burns. They were first taken to BSA Hospital; Nitin and Rakesh were later shifted to RML Hospital for further treatment.

Around 1:15 am, fire personnel recovered three severely charred bodies from the first floor. A fourth body was found later. Search operations are still ongoing to ensure no one remains trapped under the debris.

The multi-storey building housed several manufacturing units. The ground and first floors were used by Nitin Bansal, the son of the building’s owner Suresh Bansal, for producing readymade and plastic bags. The second floor was rented by an individual named Anand for fabric-related work, while the third and top floors served as storage for disposable items handled by Rakesh Arora.

By 6 am on Wednesday, the fire was brought under control on the lower floors, but firefighting continued on the upper levels due to thick smoke. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
